Dwarves of Durin’s Folk
Aulë made the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves in secret while the Children of Ilúvatar were still waiting to come. Durin was the eldest, and his line — the Longbeards — held Khazad-dûm and later the Lonely Mountain. Dwarves are the finest miners, smiths and stone-workers in Middle-earth, and they keep every oath and every grudge with equal seriousness.
